Meet Yasmeen

Survivor, Founder, Consultant, Activist, Healer

Hi, I’m Yasmeen, and welcome to Survivors Inspire Solutions! I’m so grateful you’re here. I’m a survivor, healer, activist, loving mother, and a woman who has faced profound challenges and found a renewed sense of purpose. For almost 25 years, I lived through the trauma of sex trafficking while battling addiction, homelessness, and the deep emotional wounds that came with those experiences. I know firsthand how deeply intertwined these struggles are and what it takes to reclaim your life. I also know that rebuilding and healing are possible.

Today, I am proud to say I’ve been substance-free for almost three years, maintained housing stability for over four years, and I’m approaching five years of freedom from trafficking. These milestones are not just numbers—they are a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of hope. Recovery wasn’t just about breaking free—it was about rebuilding every aspect of my life.

While these experiences have been challenging, they provided me with invaluable insight into how to navigate these obstacles and use my journey to create solutions, raise awareness, and provide education.

Throughout my journey to freedom, writing has been a profound source of healing. I’m a literary activist and the author of Survivor Soul Speaks. My work has been published and featured by organizations like the University of Washington School of Social Work, the Seattle Urban Indian Health Institute, and Stolen Youth, which combats child sex trafficking. Through writing and performance, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my story at events hosted by The Organization for Prostitution Survivors, North Seattle College, Hope Place Women and Children’s Shelter, and Voices of Community Activist Leaders Washington, where I discussed addiction with high school students.

The most meaningful part of my journey and my greatest accomplishment has been the reunification with my child. The logo for Survivors Inspire Solutions (SIS) was designed by my child, serving as a powerful symbol of the love, strength, compassion, forgiveness, and determination that empowers me every day.

My lived experiences fuel my passion for helping organizations create

environments that empower survivors. Navigating those challenges, I received support but also noticed gaps, especially in culturally specific, sustainable solutions for Black women like me. The organizations that supported me provided the encouragement and resources to heal and thrive, enabling me to become certified as a Sacred Sexual Healer and start a business grounded in my lived experience.

I founded Survivors Inspire Solutions to help organizations understand the importance of collaborating and consulting with survivors to improve their systems. Survivors bring invaluable insights to the table, and when their voices guide the work, systems become more compassionate, effective, and transformative. My goal is to ensure survivors not only heal but also have the opportunity to empower others and use their experiences to create lasting change.

I do this work not only because it is meaningful to me but also to inspire women navigating the same struggles I’ve endured. I want them to know that recovery, healing, and reconnection with themselves, their children, and their communities—are possible.

Together, we can build a future where no woman or girl has to endure what we’ve lived through.

Thank you for being here and for joining me in this mission of hope, healing, and empowerment!
